WAAO Ranking Tournament

Official Rules and Guidelines

The WAAO Ranking Tournament is our yearly ranking system. You earn WAAO points when you join or win any of our partner competitions. We add up your points throughout the year to create a final ranking. The top-ranked musicians receive special rewards and opportunities.

1. How to Earn WAAO Points

You earn WAAO points based on your results in our partner competitions. Here's how it works:

  • Grand Prize: 15 WAAO Points
  • 1st Place: 10 WAAO Points
  • 2nd Place: 8 WAAO Points
  • 3rd Place: 7 WAAO Points
  • Finalist: 5 WAAO Points
  • Participation: 3 WAAO Points (for all participants who did not win a prize)

2. How the Ranking System Works

  • Automatic System: WAAO points are automatically added up by our ranking system.
  • Unique ID: Each musician gets a unique ID to avoid errors from similar names. This ID is key for tracking all your points.
  • Use the Same Email: You must use the same email address for every WAAO partner competition. This is required to correctly track your points with your unique ID. If you use a different email, your points may not be combined correctly, and you will be responsible for any issues that result.
  • Who Can Earn Points: Currently, only participants in the 'Professional' category can earn points for the WAAO Ranking Tournament. We may include other categories in the future and will announce any changes.

3. Tournament Period and Reset

  • Operating Period: The WAAO Ranking Tournament runs for one year, from December 1st to November 30th of the following year.
  • Data Reset: After the ranking tournament period ends, all ranking data and accumulated points for that year are reset for the start of the next year's tournament.

4. Tournament Rewards and Benefits

Musicians with the best results during the tournament season will receive the following special rewards and opportunities.

A. For the 1st Place Winner (Best Musician of the Year)

  • Become a WAAO Judge: Receive an invitation to be a judge in a future WAAO partner competition.
  • Prize Money: Receive a cash prize.
  • Official Certificate: Receive an official "Best Musician of the Year" certificate from WAAO.
  • Sponsorship: Get a chance for sponsorship from WAAO or our partners.
  • * Specific details about these rewards will be sent directly to the 1st place winner.

B. For 2nd, 3rd, and Other Top Musicians

  • Certificates: The 2nd and 3rd place winners will receive official certificates for their achievements.
  • Other Opportunities: We may offer additional opportunities to other top-ranking musicians. This can change each year.

C. Important Note on Rewards

  • The details of rewards and prize money can change each year based on sponsorships and WAAO's policies.
  • Any changes will be communicated directly to the winning musicians. WAAO has the right to change some reward details without advance notice.
